Like it or not, No Alternative was one of the most truly representative compilations of the '90s. I never loved this one. I had it for one reason: the unlisted Nirvana track, which, at the time, everyone thought was called "Verse Chorus Verse" (that eventually turned out to be a different song). In reality, it was "Sappy". Great song, exclusive to this comp until the With the Lights Out box set came out many years later. Anyway, most of the rest of the comp didn't do much for me. The Soul Asylum cover of "Sexual Healing" is fun, though. Originally, the album was released just in CD and cassette form. 20 years later, they finally released a vinyl version for Record Store Day. It was a double LP on black vinyl, limited to 3,000 numbered copies. It went through the typical post-Record Store Day price spike, but this one didn't actually seem to really come down afterward. It's fairly hard to find now and not the cheapest.
