DGC 0694935072 CD, released 2002 (U.S./Canada)

I would call this collection a throwaway, but it was an important step in the release of a whole bunch of other Nirvana material. There was a well-publicized dispute between Courtney Love, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl over how to put the unreleased Nirvana material out into the world. I've read that the dispute largely revolved around the track "You Know You're Right", which Courtney apparently wanted released as a featured track on a greatest-hits-type, single-disc collection. This was also apparently the major sticking point with releasing a box set (where the other two reportedly wanted "You Know You're Right" to appear).

Oh hey look, a self-titled, single-disc, greatest-hits-type collection, featuring the previously unreleased track, "You Know You're Right".

Initially, there was only one vinyl pressing of this one, which was a black vinyl double LP set that was released in Europe. It's pretty easy to procure and its value has remained stable. And that was it for a long while. Everything else was a CD or cassette, right up until 2015. At that point, we got four additional variants. Single LP and double LP versions were released in the U.S. and in Europe. The double LP U.S. version was pressed on 200g vinyl, while the single disc version was on 150g vinyl. Both European editions were on 180g vinyl. All were black. All are cheap and easy.

In 2020, there was a Wal-Mart exclusive pressing of the single LP version on smoke-colored vinyl. It is easy to come by for the moment.

Oh, you should know that there was a 7" for "You Know You're Right" that surfaced at some point. It's a bootleg. Don't be fooled.
