OK, just as a heads up now, this one's a mess. For Record Store Day Black Friday in 2015, Paper + Plastick/Rare Breed decided to press some extremely limited lathe-cut 7"s. They did these with several artists. They were limited to 14 copies. Ugh. But it got worse. There was also a Vic Ruggiero 7", and it seems that they mixed up the tracks for some of the Slackers 7"s when they pressed them. Word is the tracks intended for the Slackers single were "I Can't Hide" and a dub version of the same song, while the Vic 7" was supposed to be covers of David Bowie's "Heroes" and Willie Nelson's "Always on My Mind". However, some of the Slackers 7"s were made with the cover songs. Kind of a lot of them, actually. I know the whereabouts of four of the 14 copies, and three of those four were made with the cover songs. D'oh. What makes it more confusing is that the full band clearly appears on both covers. I don't know. It's a mess. Oh, and to make things even more annoying, they did some copies on black vinyl and others on clear.
Right. So what have we learned? Start with an impossibly rare 14 copies. Some (most) were on black vinyl, and some were on clear. At least three of the 14, but likely more, contained two covers theoretically intended for the Vic Ruggiero 7". Happy hunting!
