In Bloom...mercifully, it got slightly more manageable with this one. There were far fewer variants. We had a UK 7", which had molded, painted labels. There was also a jukebox version of this one, but the labels were painted. The only difference between this and the commercial release was that there was a large 45 hole punched so that it could be used in a jukebox. The UK also had a 12" picture disc.
Both UK versions are very common and sold frequently. Prices have crept upward slightly for both, but have largely been stable.
In Bloom introduced a new collecting wrinkle: the Dutch 7". This was much harder to find than the UK version. Not impossible, but not easy. We'll get to the really tough Dutch 7" on the All Apologies page, but this was the first of the Dutch ones. The Dutch 7" had a different b-side from the UK one (the UK single had a live version of Polly and the Dutch one had a live version of Sliver). These used to be fairly expensive, but the prices came down when they started to surface for sale more often. Lately, the prices have been moving upward again.
There were two other promo 7"s, which were released in Mexico and Costa Rica. The Costa Rica 7" misspelled the title as "In Blomm", which I kind of love. The Latin American promos are both scarce and expensive. I always thought the Mexcian one was rarer, but sales over the past five years have convinced me otherwise. The Costa Rican version has been very scarce in recent years. In Bloom marked the end of the run of Latin American promo 7"s.
In 2011, a black 10" came out in the U.S. as was part of the Nevermind - The Singles set. I've seen it sold separately a number of times. Right. To the charts!
