In Spades

Sub Pop SP 1150 LP/CD/CS, released 2017 (U.S./Europe)
Sub Pop SP1150CDJ CD, released 2017 (Japan)

A new Afghan Whigs album on Sub Pop! In 2017! Honestly, everything from here on out is gravy. The "Loser Edition" of this record was on white vinyl. It was pressed in the U.S. and Europe - both had Loser Editions, and both were on white vinyl. In recent years, when Sub Pop has produced color vinyl in both the U.S. and Europe, the color discrepancy between the two has been noticeably different. In this case, with white vinyl, it looks the same. However, they are definitely distinct pressings, with very different matrix codes in the dead wax. There was also a black vinyl version.

Another official version of In Spades was exclusive to Barnes & Noble stores. This one was the black vinyl version, but contained a print signed by Greg Dulli. There was a unique label on the outer packaging to designate the exclusive edition (see above). For the moment, the Barnes & Noble version appears to be the more expensive variant. We'll see how this shakes out over time.

Finally, there was a promo version of the record. Again, it is the black vinyl version of the record, but it comes in a plain white sleeve. There is an RTI label on the sleeve mentioning the release date. It has been an inexpensive item to date, but I could see it escalating over time.
