The Afghan Whigs

Do to the Beast

Sub Pop SP 1061 2xLP, released 2014

Just when you thought it was Afghan Whigs album outta nowhere!  As I have enjoyed just about everything Greg Dulli has released, I was cautiously optimistic about this record before it came out.  I was worried that it wouldn't live up to the previous Whigs material.  It did.  This one made me happy.  It was by far my favorite album of 2014.

Do to the Beast was released as a double LP.  Pre-orders from Sub Pop received the "Loser Edition", which was on white vinyl.  Unfortunately, there was a flaw in the pressing, and side D skipped.  Sub Pop later re-pressed the second disc and sent the replacement disc out to anyone who had ordered it directly from them.  It was also released on black vinyl.  When the band went on tour for the album, they sold a tour edition on clear vinyl.  This is the tough one to find of the bunch.
